The Microsoft Edge Collection is fully available on Pinterest with an inspiration and sharing feed

6/29/2022

Microsoft Edge is building a small version of Pinterest inside its browser. The Collections window will soon start showing a suggested feed of content based on the topics you've saved.

As someone who's been using Edge since it first came out, I admit I never really knew much about Collections (at least until now). This is a quick summary of Collections that lets you save and organize web pages, text, and images you find on the web. You can create a collection, such as recipes with links to all your favorite meals, or even a graphic design gallery that contains full images. Inspiration for your future work. The new inspiration feed will provide content relevant to recent searches.

While Collections already supports Pinterest integration, allowing you to view recommendations from the site and export your collection to Pinterest boards, this new inspiration feed is like a mini version of Pinterest. The feature isn't out yet (Microsoft says it's "coming soon").

“It will appear in a pop-up window with folders containing your various collections,” explains Liat Ben-Zur, corporate vice president of Microsoft. And Microsoft is also working on the possibility of sharing your collection".

In addition to the inspiration feed, Edge is getting some other small but useful upgrades. You can now hover over images and videos to reveal two icons: one that will save the item to your collection and another to open visual search, conducting a visual search the photo or video you selected.

Edge will also start allowing you to follow certain creators on YouTube, TikTok or Bilibili starting this month. When the feature launches, you'll be able to tap the "Follow" icon in the address bar on a creator's video, and you'll then see their recent uploads in a new "Following" tab in the store. the Collections pop-up. Microsoft says it's rolling out the feature to only a handful of sites "to begin with".
